Is it normal to experience vision distortion / “fisheye effect” when I wear my new glasses?
Yes, it's perfectly normal for these reasons:
You will need some time to get used to the new prescription, especially if your degree has increased from your previous prescription. It will typically take about 2-3 days to get used to your new glasses but more time may be needed if you have been wearing your old glasses for a long time.Try to wear your new glasses as much as possible and avoid switching back to your old glasses to allow your brain and eyes to get used to the new pair.
If your new glasses have bigger frames than your previous pair, you may experience vision distortion at your peripheral vision (around the side of the lens). This is because bigger frames require wider lenses, and while this allows you to see more of the surroundings, the curvature from the wider lenses may create the vision distortion when you’re not used to it. Again, time will be needed for your brain to adjust to this “new” vision.
Hi-Index Lens Property
Foptics uses hi-index lenses for to give you thin and slim lenses. As the lens are thinner, the back surface of the lens is placed further away from the natural curve of your eye. This can be solved by adjusting the shape of your frame into a more natural curve. However, do not attempt to adjust your glasses yourself as your may risk breaking / damaging them.
Should you continue to experience vision distortion or major discomfort with your new glasses, feel free to drop our our store with your glasses and we will assist you with it!

FOP-TIPS to care for your new glasses!
1. Wipe off excess moisture on your frames with your foptics cloth.
This can help them last longer and avoid decolouration of the frame.
2. Store your glasses in your foptics hard casing with the lenses facing down on the cloth.
This will help to avoid scratched lenses.
3. Avoid wiping your lenses with your clothes or tissue paper.
Use our foptics microfiber cloth instead! Unsuitable material may scratch your lenses.
4. Leaving your glasses exposed in your car may cause coating cracks on your lenses.
Such cracking are not covered under most lens warranties. Please keep your glasses in the foptics case provided and avoid prolong exposure under direct sunlight.
5. Use a small amount of mild soap and lukewarm water to wash off any smudges on your lenses.
Dry them with your foptics cloth! Alternatively you can get our foptics Lens Spray to seamlessly clean your glasses!
